German Press Agency (dpa)

The German Press Agency (dpa) group is mecom’s majority shareholder. dpa was founded in 1949 and is one of the world’s leading independent news agencies. dpa supplies media outlets, companies and organisations throughout the world with editorial content in seven languages. Approximately 1,000 journalists report from around 150 locations in Germany and abroad.

Agence France-Presse (AFP)

French Agence France-Presse (AFP) is the world’s oldest international news agency. It was founded in Paris in 1835. Today, 2,400 employees in more than 150 countries represent AFP, making it the third-largest news agency on the globe. Its head office continues to be in Paris. AFP’s German subsidiary produces news in all important departments for the German market.

Gemeinschaftswerk der Evangelischen Publizistik (GEP)

Gemeinschaftswerk der Evangelischen Publizistik (GEP) is the federal media outlet of the Protestant Church of Germany (EKD). GEP was founded in 1973 by the Bavarian priest Robert Geisendörfer and aims to make content and topics accessible to a broad public. Among the associates of GEP are the Protestant news service Evangelischer Pressedienst (epd), the Protestant journalists’ school Evangelische Journalistenschule (EJS), further publishers and associated companies.

Katholische Nachrichten-Agentur (KNA)

Katholische Nachrichten-Agentur (KNA) was founded in 1952 and is a media outlet owned by the Catholic Church of Germany. KNA is Europe’s largest Catholic news agency. Over 70 per cent of all media outlets in Germany receive its content on a daily basis. The head office of Katholische Nachrichten-Agentur is situated in Bonn.

dpa-AFX Wirtschaftsnachrichten GmbH is one of the leading agencies for business and financial news in German and English. With its global network of journalists, dpa-AFX reports on international finance and business events, producing texts as well as audio and video content. The agency’s target audience mainly consists of banks, financial service providers and media outlets. The seat of dpa-AFX is Frankfurt am Main. Its shareholders are German Press Agency (dpa) and Austrian Press Agency (APA).
